This Monkey’s Fist Keychain is made with 100% cotton cord for a more traditional look and is 3 inches long, the perfect size to hold your keys.
We also see a lot of this style used on jacket zippers to make them easier to open and close while wearing winter gloves.
Monkey’s Fists are a traditional seafaring knot used as weight at the end of a heaving line. The heaving line is used to pull the dock line to the pier.
This knot is tied over a 3/4″ maple ball covered with cotton cord monkey fist knot and finished with a solid brass American made split ring. Show off your nautical style without adding extra weight to your keys.

All our knots are made in our riverside Studio in Downtown Mystic, Connecticut. For over 60 years, our family has been sharing our nautical knot tying skills with the community and a growing team of apprentice artisans.
Cord arrives on spools and every step after the cordage manufacture is done in shop. Our cord is custom made to Matt’s specifications. The brass castings and windings for keychains and closures are done by the outside trades.
Lead time is 1 week. We try to have our most popular knots made ahead, but sometimes we have to tie to order.
