Description
The throw pillow that wows.
In rich, cozy colors, the Linen Throw Pillow is easy on the eyes and good for the planet.
How can a pillow be good for the planet, you might wonder?
Sustainable ingredients. Filled with organic Kapok tree fiber, an environmentally-friendly (no microplastics here!) and cruelty-free alternative to down, the pillow insert is enclosed in organic cotton muslin and made in-house. The pillow cover is made of 100% highest quality Belgian linen from Merchant & Mills. You can read why linen is a sustainable choice here.
Besides being consciously crafted, it’s perfect for guilt-free afternoon naps on the sofa because of the envelope closure, which doesn’t have the pokiness of a plastic zipper. Also great for adorning your bed in the morning for a put-together look.
Washed and ironed before making. Machine washable.
Sewn with love by Sofia.

According to the World Economic Forum, “synthetic materials, such as acrylic, nylon, polyester, make up some 60% of global textile production” in today’s market. Those synthetic materials eventually end up in our waterways in the form of microplastics, which negatively affect millions of organisms that are essential to our ecosystems.
Combined with the sharp increase of textile waste (throwing away clothes) in the past 20 years– and the fact that they can take hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill– textiles have become quite the environmental problem.
It also got Sofia thinking: why sacrifice the planet for attractive home good designs? Pillows filled with plastic, scraps of material going to waste in textile production, and linens that have life left in them–all going to waste?
She started Nordic Blue Designs to make socially and environmentally responsible home goods; home goods that are specifically designed to reduce the environmental impacts of textiles.
Everything you see on here is designed and handmade by our all-woman team. Our textile products are either biodegradable, recycled, upcycled, use very little water to process, or are grown from trees.
We know well that textiles are an essential part of living, but also believe that you shouldn’t have to feel guilty about environmental impacts of what you buy.
