Description
You know that feeling that carrying around a tote bag brings you? The warm fuzzies from knowing that you’re helping to reduce plastic waste in our environment and that you look effortless doing it? Well, the tote you got for free at that fundraiser just met its upgrade.
Made of lightweight recycled cotton canvas, it’s the market bag that you’ll want to tote everywhere because of its packable size and unique design.
The design on each bag pays homage to a love of picking wild berries in the woods of Scandinavia. Blueberrries is the indigo design and Cloudberries is the orange.
The Market Tote is 14.5″ x 15.5″ and comfortably fits a baguette, a bouquet of flowers, and some apples from the Sunday farmer’s market or a laptop and notebook for a weekday commute.
Independently designed by Sofia and printed by Hands On Screenprinting in Bozeman, MT.

According to the World Economic Forum, “synthetic materials, such as acrylic, nylon, polyester, make up some 60% of global textile production” in today’s market. Those synthetic materials eventually end up in our waterways in the form of microplastics, which negatively affect millions of organisms that are essential to our ecosystems.
Combined with the sharp increase of textile waste (throwing away clothes) in the past 20 years– and the fact that they can take hundreds of years to decompose in a landfill– textiles have become quite the environmental problem.
It also got Sofia thinking: why sacrifice the planet for attractive home good designs? Pillows filled with plastic, scraps of material going to waste in textile production, and linens that have life left in them–all going to waste?
She started Nordic Blue Designs to make socially and environmentally responsible home goods; home goods that are specifically designed to reduce the environmental impacts of textiles.
Everything you see on here is designed and handmade by our all-woman team. Our textile products are either biodegradable, recycled, upcycled, use very little water to process, or are grown from trees.
We know well that textiles are an essential part of living, but also believe that you shouldn’t have to feel guilty about environmental impacts of what you buy.
