I believe in the power of handmade objects to transform our everyday experiences and I design for those who want to elevate their surroundings.
My utilitarian ceramic objects are informed by my contemporary art upbringing, drawing inspiration from midcentury art and design, Japenese aesthetics, and the natural world. I am trained as a sculptor and love the interplay between art, objects, and design.
My process begins with a heavy amount of research and sketches that are distilled down to a complementary set of forms. I use a porcelain clay that is a durable brilliant white when fired. My glazes are mixed from scratch to preserve the individuality of the work. Variation is inevitable as each piece is made and glazed by hand.
All work is fired in an electric kiln to approximately 2100 degrees F. Just about every piece is dishwasher and microwave safe. Ceramics with silver or gold luster are not dishwasher, microwave, or food safe.
